Our activities

The Book Information Centre has a dual mission, combining economic interests with a cultural and political vocation. All this with the aim of increasing the mutual transparency of the book industry in both countries and thus strengthening German-Chinese cooperation. With the ultimate goal of benefiting all Chinese and German publishers, authors and translators.

Despite a growing interest from the Chinese, German books have a much harder time in the Chinese market than English titles.
This is mainly due to the lack of German language skills in China and Chinese language skills in Germany.
But despite this we believe we can help bridge the gap and provide solutions.

German Book Information Centre Beijing has been working closely with Chinese partners in the region since 1998 and has established itself in the Chinese publishing world as a central contact point for those interested in German publishing houses. We offer your publishing house the opportunity to present itself in an attractive position on the Internet. You give us the essential information about your publisher, we translate it and prepare it in such a way that it appeals to the Chinese.

We help you to have a media presence in the Chinese speaking region. Through our close cooperation with Chinese partners in China, we are in contact with various Chinese media, which enable us to promote German publishers, bookstores, institutions or even individual book titles.
