Creative trip to Southeast Asia
Creative trip to Southeast Asia
Exclusive trip for cultural and creative industry professionals.
The application deadline has expired.
After the successful premiere of a cross-industry, three-city creative trip through Southeast Asia (Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore) in November 2022, Frankfurter Buchmesse is offering another creative trip in November 2023. This time, participants will travel to Bangkok, as well as Jakarta and Singapore.
Representatives of the creative industry, intellectual property owners and startups from German-speaking countries can apply to be delegates on this exclusive trip. Experts from the fields of publishing – including audiobooks, film, animation, VR, games and e-sports – are particularly encouraged to apply.
During the trip, publishers and creative entrepreneurs will gain insights into the professional scenes of three major economic centres in Southeast Asia, where they can explore new opportunities for cooperation. As part of the Creative trip, the selected participants are scheduled to participate as speakers in the event programme of the festival Jaktent in Jakarta.
Frankfurter Buchmesse is organising the trip in close cooperation with local partners in Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand, with financial support from Germany’s Federal Foreign Office. Thanks to the funding, participants' travel expenses from Germany to Southeast Asia will be covered, in addition to a significant portion of accommodation and travel expenses in Southeast Asia.
The programme will be conducted in English.

This super organized trip gave me a profound insight into three creatively and economically very interesting countries, where I now have a broad network for future international projects thanks to the many professional and cordial appointments on site. A first translation license deal with a publishing house in Kuala Lumpur has been completed, and more are on the horizon.
The creative trip was very productive and especially inspiring! Meeting colleagues from our field in Southeast Asia, learning about Southeast Asian stories and storytelling, and experiencing the production conditions for a possible collaboration was very inspiring and horizon-expanding.
