Frankfurt Kids brings you an exciting lineup with current topics in Children's and YA literature
This year again, there was a focus on children's literature at the fairgrounds. You could find the German-language publishers with the latest titles in Hall 3.0 while international publishers could be found in Halls 4.1, 5.0, 5.1, 6.0 and 6.1. The topics YA and New Adult could be found in various areas of the fairground.
You could also look forward to an exciting specialist programme with current topics in children's and YA literature, as anime and film as well as games. Another highlight was the Kids Conference on the Wednesday of the fair.
This was Frankfurt Kids Conference 2024
Paving the Way for the Future: Responsibility in Children’s Book Publishing
The focus was on the topic of ‘responsibility’ that publishing books for children and young adults entails. Which stories need to be told that will foster respect and mutual understanding? How do we communicate the values that are important in order to better understand the world around us?
How do we promote access to books and what concepts are there to support children with stories, even in crisis situations?
International experts discussed these questions in three panels. At the end of the conference, moderated breakout sessions Sustainability, Accessibility/Disability, POC/Diversity and Creator's Responsibility offered the opportunity to discuss topics more in depth.
The conference was moderated by award-winning author and translator Lawrence Schimel, Bestselling author Cornelia Funke joined us virtually for the Keynote.
