From Japanese Zen cuisine to fine Georgian wines
Culinary nation branding in the Gourmet Gallery of the Frankfurter Buchmesse (10-14 October 2018)
The culinary world comes together in all its variety on 1,000 square metres in the Gourmet Gallery (Hall 3.1, K 84 to L 146). The long-standing success of this area dedicated to the joy of food reflects the growing importance of food in our society, which has become a way to express one’s outlook and identity. As a result, cookbooks, which used to be pure instruction manuals, have also developed into high-quality, identity-defining guidebooks.
“Cuisine as a medium for conveying culture internationally – so-called culinary national branding – is very important. This year in der Gourmet Gallery, there will be cooking shows by this year’s Guest of Honour Georgia, the future Guest of Honour Slovenia, as well as Japan, Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines and Turkey. Our current Guest of Honour Georgia has a 100-sqm stand featuring its famous wines and typical local cuisine”, says Martina Stemann, Key Account Manager at the Frankfurter Buchmesse, who is responsible for the on-going development of the Gourmet Gallery.
