BOOKFEST: Call for Participation – publishers and partners can submit their ideas starting now
The CfP for BOOKFEST is open until 30 April 2019
“When Frankfurt celebrates good stories, yours should be one of them” – with these words, Frankfurter Buchmesse extends its invitation to participate in BOOKFEST (15-20 October 2019). What’s special about this year’s edition of Frankfurter Buchmesse’s international festival of literature, stories and ideas is that anyone can help shape the programme. With its Call for Participation (CfP), the festival is looking for the best ideas by 30 April 2019.
In 2019, BOOKFEST is once again expected to encompass some 80 events – on all five days of the fair and at various locations: in the Frankfurt Pavilion, Congress Center and at popular locations throughout Frankfurt. The festival provides the perfect stage for authors and ideas during and creates experiences in an exceptional atmosphere. Many different types of events are possible, including events with bestselling authors, poetry slams, tastings, concerts, parties, discussions and much more.
Anyone with a suitable idea for an event can become part of BOOKFEST. The programme team will evaluate all proposals received (the participation form is available at www.buchmesse.de/en/bookfest-bepartofit(opens in a new window)) and use them to curate an international programme. Gender, nationality and age are irrelevant; in designing the programme, diversity will be a very important aspect. Ideally, the themes should reflect this as well, which is why ideas from a wide variety of genres – entertainment, non-fiction/self help, literature, art, music, etc. – are all welcome.
In 2018, BOOKFEST presented a multifaceted programme, with 77 events at 21 locations: Young German students and similar-aged refugees engaged in poetic conversation together as part of The Poetry Project, a live drawing performance was held based on the book “Die Stramme Helene”, celebrity chef Marlon Soleil Russegger prepared dishes using nothing but a kettle – and much more. A total of 25,000 visitors attended the festival in its debut year.
