For the fourth time, the networking day “A Book is a Film is a Game” will be part of Frankfurter Buchmesse's Focus: Film programme. On Friday, 18 October 2019, the spotlight at THE ARTS+ Salon in Hall 4.1. will be on adapting literary material for the screen as well as on current trends in the field of moving images. Experts from the publishing and film world, gaming and new media sectors will come together at exciting workshops and talks. Participants in the Focus: Film networking day can expect a diverse programme with best-case studies, panels and matchmaking sessions. Admission to the networking day is included in THE ARTS+ trade-visitor ticket, and registration for individual sessions opens in September.

One of the most important programme items is the pitching event, which is dedicated this year to “Books on Revolution / Revolutionary Books Appropriate for Adaptation”, in keeping with this year’s Frankfurter Buchmesse CREATE YOUR REVOLUTION campaign.

Until 3 September 2019, publishers, agencies and authors can submit their “revolutionary” books, suitable for adaptation to the screen. Eight titles will be selected for pitching on the networking day, 18 October 2019.

Moderated by Syd Atlas, the selected books will be presented in conversation; at the subsequent get-together, film producers in attendance will have the opportunity to speak with film rights holders, publishers and literary agents and to discuss which books have the potential for successful and revolutionary cinematic dreams.

About THE ARTS+

THE ARTS+ Future of Culture Festival, which takes place every year as part of Frankfurter Buchmesse, revolves around the future of the creative and cultural industry: An international showroom of the future, it brings together creative minds and pioneers of the digital ecosystem, with inspiring keynotes by national and international speakers as well as exceptional performances. In 2019, THE ARTS+ entered into a unique partnership with the B3 Biennale des bewegten Bildes (B3 Biennial of the Moving Image), an event organized by the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach (Offenbach University of Art and Design). Significant parts of the B3 programme dovetail with the successful festival and, amongst other things, the biennial will present its renowned flagship exhibition in the middle of THE ARTS+ area in Hall 4.1. In addition, the area is the heart of CREATE YOUR REVOLUTION, this year’s Frankfurter Buchmesse campaign dedicated to the importance and future of culture. www.theartsplus.com(opens in a new window)
