BOOKFEST 2019 Herz Autor liest vor

International publishers and partners can submit their ideas by 30 April 2020

In 2019, BOOKFEST attracted some 25,000 visitors – and about 5,000 of them attended the 60 events held in the city of Frankfurt. The 55 locations and 55 participating publishers presented a varied programme with best-selling authors, YouTube stars, politicians, musicians, actors, storytellers and an European Space Agency astronaut. The application period is now open for BOOKFEST 2020, which will once again take place as part of Frankfurter Buchmesse (14-18 October 2020). Publishers and partners are invited to submit their ideas by 30 April 2020.

The festival is a perfect stage for authors and ideas, and creates memorable experiences in a unique atmosphere across the city of Frankfurt. A wide range of events are planned to be taking place: events with best-selling authors, poetry slams, tastings, concerts, parties, discussion panels, workshops, and many other formats. There are no limits to the number of topics, so ideas submitted can also come from different areas: entertainment, non-fiction, literature, art, music, etc.

However, in 2020 Frankfurter Buchmesse is putting a spotlight on its initiative “Brave Voices for a New Decade”. The aim is to give courageous voices that are bringing about change by introducing their ideas into current world events a chance to speak at BOOKFEST, and to be included in all other Frankfurter Buchmesse programmes and events. As a result, event concepts setting an example for democracy and freedom of speech are also welcome.

The programme team will evaluate the submitted suggestions (for the participation form, please go to www.bookfest.de/bepartofit(opens in a new window)) and will curate an international programme with a strong focus on diversity.

If you have any questions, please write to bookfest@buchmese.de(opens in a new window) or meet the Frankfurter Buchmesse team personally at London Book Fair (stand 6D81) or at Leipziger Buchmesse.
