BOOKFEST Call for Participation: Submission deadline extended until 31 May 2020
International publishers and partners can submit their ideas via an online form at www.bookfest.de/bepartofit(opens in a new window)
COVID-19 is currently turning the world upside down: public life has been severely restricted. Based on current information available, we expect Frankfurter Buchmesse (14-18 October 2020) and BOOKFEST to take place this coming October. We understand that planning such as this falls into an uncertain time period and so we are therefore extending the submission deadline for the BOOKFEST Call for Participation to 31 May 2020. Publishers and partners are invited to submit their ideas for the festival of Frankfurter Buchmesse.
The festival is a perfect stage for authors and ideas, and creates memorable experiences in a unique atmosphere across the city of Frankfurt. We are planning a wide range of activities: events with best-selling authors, poetry slams, tastings, concerts, parties, discussion panels, workshops, and many other formats. There are no limits to the number of topics, so ideas submitted can also come from different areas: entertainment, non-fiction, literature, art, music, etc.
However, this year Frankfurter Buchmesse is putting a spotlight on its initiative “Brave Voices for a New Decade”. The aim is to give courageous voices, that are bringing about change by introducing their ideas into current world events, a chance to speak at BOOKFEST, and to be included in all other Frankfurter Buchmesse programmes and events. As a result, event concepts setting an example for democracy and freedom of speech are also welcome.
The programme team will evaluate the submitted suggestions (for the participation form, please go to www.bookfest.de/bepartofit(opens in a new window)) and will curate an international programme with a strong focus on diversity. The events can be held in German and/or English, and ideas can also be submitted in either of these two languages.

A strong conference programme ensures that Frankfurter Buchmesse is a major source of inspiration for content experts from around the world. Since 1976, the book fair has featured an annual Guest of Honour country, which showcases its book market, literature and culture to attendees in a variety of ways.
