Akwugo Emejulu and Dominique Haensell both deal with Black Feminism in their writing, focusing on racial, gender, and class inequalities – one as a political sociologist primarily in the academic discourse, the other as an author and Co-Editor-in-Chief of Missy Magazine. On this stage they will have a conversation about topics that affect women of colour, from intersectionality and post-colonialism to activism for justice. Both of these women are also passionate readers, drawing inspiration from works of fiction. Their conversation will explore questions like What significance do novels have for their theoretical work? Which books have particularly inspired their feminist thinking? What kind of literature really brings about social change? We invite everyone to take part in this discussion! It will be moderated by Jan Ehlert (NDR, and host of the book podcast eat.READ.sleep.).
