Are We Selling the Right Stories?
Alarmed at the rise of xenophobias and nationalisms in Germany and the world, Cornelia Funke asked herself if she (and other children's writers) were telling the wrong stories, which had led to this lack of empathy and understanding. But she realized the problem was more systematic. Rather than trying to cast blame, she hopes to instead help publishers, creators, translators, and others to rethink how they operate, to collaborate more, to help nourish, support, and publish other voices that will raise more-compassionate, globally-aware future generations.
