Anthony John Balisi
Anthony John Balisi, affectionately known as "Tuni" to his friends, currently serves as a Director at the National Book Development Board (NBDB) in the Philippines. In this capacity, he assumes direct responsibility for formulating policies, devising strategic plans and programs, managing grants, and conducting industry research for the agency.
With a career in the Philippine government spanning over two decades, Tuni has been deeply immersed in the realm of development work and social science research. In the past seven years, his focus has been dedicated to the dynamic world of the Philippine publishing sector.
Tuni's academic journey includes earning a bachelor's degree in Anthropology and a master's degree in Environmental Social Science. As an anthropologist and researcher, his diverse projects encompass research in medical anthropology, analysis of Philippine political power structures, investigation of third world urban water systems, exploration of art history, and in-depth ethnographies of Philippine island communities.
Tuni is an active member of the Ugnayang Pang-Aghamtao, Inc. (UGAT), which is the Anthropological Association of the Philippines, as well as the Freelance Writers' Guild of the Philippines (FWGP).
Beyond his professional commitments, Tuni proudly identifies as a bona fide book geek. He not only writes and reads voraciously but also curates a collection of books, making him a true book connoisseur.
