Shahrzad Osterer was born in Tehran in 1984 in the middle of the Iran-Iraq war. At 19, she decided to leave her home country. For the past 10 years, Osterer has worked for various formats of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation, among others in the editorial team of the BR programme "Messages of Refugees", as a writer for the Zündfunk magazine and for the socio-political programme "Zündfunk-Generator". She had her own empowerment podcast at BR, and is currently a presenter for BR's new diversity project "Workin' Germany" and writes for some print media.
