Manjula Padmanabhan
Award-winning playwright and novelist
Manjula Padmanabhan (b. 1953), is an author, playwright and cartoonist. She grew up in Europe and Southeast Asia, returning to India in the late 1960s. Her play HARVEST won the 1997 Onassis Award for Theatre. Other plays she has written include: LIGHTS OUT, THE MATING GAME SHOW and a set of five performance pieces called HIDDEN FIRES. Her weekly comic strip SUKIYAKI appears in Business Line, in Chennai, India. Her two most recent novels, ESCAPE and THE ISLAND OF LOST GIRLS, are set in a brutal future world. She lives in the US, with a home in New Delhi.
