She studied Romance and German Philology in Münster and Seville. When Ray-Güde Mertin passed away in 2007, Nicole took over the management of her literary agency, which since 1982 has been dedicated to the dissemination of literature in Portuguese and Spanish, with a particular focus on fiction. In 2015, Nicole was awarded Best Literary Agent of the Year by the London Book Fair and the UK Publishers Association.
