Thilo Krapp was born in Herdecke in 1975 and studied communication design with Wolf Erlbruch in Wuppertal, focusing on illustration. His best-known works include the graphic novel based on H.G. Wells' classic "The War of the Worlds" and the adaptation of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea." His illustrations for the non-fiction book "Émile in Berlin" are a monument to the history of department stores. He particularly enjoys illustrating children's books and comics, sometimes working with his own texts. He lives with his husband in Berlin.
