Akoss Ofori-Mensah is the CEO of Sub-Saharan Publishers, based in Ghana. Her publishing house publishes children's books, scholarly books and school textbooks. Akoss started her publishing house in the late nineties and some of her titles have won prizes and awards:
SOSU CALL won the UNESCO PRIZE for Children's Books dealing with disabilities.
ANIMAL VILLAGE by Nelda Lateef, won the Children's Africana Award and Kirkus Review and THE BRASSMAN'S SECRET by Meshack Asare won both the NOMA Prize and the Niestadt Prize.
Akoss is a member of the Executive Committee of IBBY.
